Mauritanian judge decides to imprison eight "Salafis" for terrorism

A Mauritanian judge ordered the imprisonment of eight "Salafi" accused of''terrorism " and " constitution of a terrorist organization".



Mauritanian judge decides to imprison eight "Salafis" for terrorism
The eight  condemned people were being held pending sentencing at the central prison in Nouakchott on judge's  guilty verdict on a charge of  terrorism.The  Judge in charge of the tribunal dealing with terrorism in Nouakchott also ordered the release of two other accused who were placed under judicial supervision.

The representative of the  Public Ministry for the Nouakchott tribunal had decided on the liberation of 7 of the 17 accused brought before the court and held in preventive custody for a month because of the inquiry.

Among the accused in the central prison in Nouakchott figure Mohamed Salem Ould Mohamed Lamine alias "Almajlissi" a Salafist activist in Mauritania, who had been jailed, but had received a Presidential pardon in 2010.

Mauritanian police had arrested 17 people presumed to be "Salafis" on November 22, before bringing them before the court.
