Libyan authorities try to disarm rogue militias in Tripoli

Security forces were deployed on Wednesday to control and disarm rogue militia groups who are still ruuning amok in the capital.

Agencies report that prime minister, Abdurrahim el-Keib has ordered the crackdown because of continued instances of shoot outs ,  armed robbery and disorder.The government,  whose cabinet was sworn in last weekend, has given militias until mid  December to come under state control.

The disorder in Tripoli has become impossible and citizens are calling for order to be restored.  "We have had complaints from the citizens," said the interior minister, Fawzi Abdel Aal according to the Guardian newspaper, "We have a comprehensive plan to integrate all fighters who are willing to work with the interior ministry."

Local media report that pro Ghaddafi gunmen are still operating in the city and the situation is generally chaotic. A difficult transition period is not helped by some 10 billion in foreign currency assets are still frozen by the UN.
