Minister of Culture, Mr. Mehdi Mabrouk, said during the press conference last Wednesday in Dar Sebastian the International Cultural Centre of Hammamet, in the presence of Mr. Fethi Kharrat (festival director of Carthage) and Mr. Fethi Haddaoui (Director of the International Festival of Hammamet). On this 48th edition, we will record participation of 54 Tunisian artists, 10 of the Arab world and 13 international artists, knowing that the total cost of the festival was estimated at three million five hundred thousand dinars, which constitute 40 percent participation of the Ministry Culture. To encourage citizens to attend the daily program, we set the price of subscriptions to 200 dinars for individuals and families for 400 dinars, while tickets for various performances vary between ten and twenty dinars, except two galas which are thirty dinars.
Fathi M. Kharrat said meanwhile that the opening show of this edition will be provided by thirty beautiful voices sing Tunisian who the big names in the Tunisian song and the closing party will be one hundred percent with the provision of Tunisia the singer-composer-lutenist Dhafer Youssef and that for the first time, the Carthage festival will host an opera by the Rome Symphony Orchestra on July 9th. The Arab world will be represented, among others, by the ghosts Najoua Karam, Kadhem Saher, Ramy Ayech and Marcel Khalifa. The intervention of Mr. Hadaoui, director of the International Festival of Hammamet, focused on the programming of the new Festival of Hammamet, which this year is mainly based on proposals and suggestions to the Ministry of Culture for the "redesign " of the festival. Through the programming of plays and other Tunisian, evenings of dance and performing arts, it is to coordinate the nights of summer and the opportunity to speak to all artists, including artists who will have the opportunity to organize exhibitions of painting and sculpture in the garden of "Dar Sebastian". After the intervention, the debate focused on the criteria of selection of nominees in the committee responsible for selecting shows, and on the trade-off for shows that coincide with Ramadan, which may cause some sensibiltés. The singer Slah Mosbah, who attended the conference, has meanwhile claimed the presence of Tunisian artist in our festivals as a right and a patriotic duty.
From 16 August until the end of the month, there will be a film cycle with famous Tunisian and foreign movies in the amphitheater of Carthage (3D projection for some) to be followed by discussions.
